My Story
My story begins at the age of 7, when I fell in love with dancing. It was the first time I felt truly alive in my body. It was a way I could open up and express myself, be fully present in the moment and ultimately be me. Even then, I knew dancing made me happy and connected me to something deep inside. That spark became the starting point of my lifelong journey with the body.
Through my teens I trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap and disco, eventually completing an A-Level in Dance, a Dance Foundation Diploma, and a BA (Hons) in Dance in Society with a PGCE(A) at the University of Surrey. It was there I first encountered Pilates. During this time I developed back issues, persistent skin problems, and later digestive pain that was labelled IBS. Traditional treatments didn’t help, but a mix of acupuncture and removing dairy from my diet transformed my skin and brought real relief.
After university, I taught dance full-time for two years before moving from Essex to London to run the Dance Department for Ceroc, a national modern jive company. In London, I began practising regular Pilates and yoga and noticed how much more open and spacious my body felt. Ongoing digestive issues and emotional stress eventually led me to a naturopath, the first person to look at me and my body as a whole. After three months of dietary changes and targeted supplements, I felt as though my entire system had been reset. My digestion settled, my mood lifted, and I truly felt I was healing from the inside out.
Four years into my work with Ceroc, I retrained as a Pilates teacher with the Pilates Foundation while also working at the renowned Life Centre in Notting Hill. Immersed in yoga, Pilates, and holistic therapies, I deepened my understanding of how connected the body really is. Practising and teaching Pilates showed me how movement encourages us to open up, to become more connected with our self and the world around us and how listening to the body allows it to do what it’s designed to do: heal.
Alongside this, I became increasingly aware of how food influences our wellbeing. I’d always loved cooking and in 2008 I began studying with the College of Natural Nutrition. Its philosophy, that sees healing ‘as the creation of freedom and movement within all levels of the individual’, aligned perfectly with my experience of Pilates and offered another dimension to the health and wellbeing journey of my clients.
Whilst working at The Life Centre, I was introduced more deeply to the world of energy healing which included hands on healing and homeopathy amongst other modalities. I was fascinated by this world and quite quickly understood how layers of emotional trauma, that I hadn’t even realised I hadn’t processed, were creating blocks in my body, often manifesting in a physical form or just stored somewhere, ready to be looked at and released when I felt ready. This was such a massive learning and so I felt called to continue this work for myself and more latterly for others. I completed my Reiki 1 and 2 certification and have continued to deepen my experience by working with mentors who have guided me to trust my intuitive channel and wisdom. I now offer energy healing as a stand alone session or as part of my moon ceremonies, and I love it!
I still love teaching dance and dancing for myself; there’s nothing like the freedom and connection it brings. Today, alongside the energy work, I continue to practise and offer Pilates and natural nutrition and feel honoured to share these life-changing principles with others. It’s deeply rewarding to witness people find more ease, flow, and connection with themselves as they release the old and welcome in the new.
